The Major Security Update that Forced Google+ to Shut Down

The Major Security Update that Forced Google+ to Shut Down

It is the second time in this year when Google has announced that it was shutting down its beleaguered social media platform i.e., Google +. According to Google, this latest vulnerability has affected approx 52.5 million users. User information such as profile info, name, email address, age, and occupation etc, everything was severely exposed. The accounts that were set to private were also affected. Google+ vulnerability was also revealed earlier but publically disclosed in October and because of that significant transparency concerns arise. But this is the major security update of this year that forced Google+ to shut down.

Moreover, the company also added that sensitive data such as financial information, national identification numbers, and passwords were not affected. The tech giant also said that it has fixed the problem and have started contacting those people whose information has been leaked. The company better understand that there are implications for app developers but the company will focus on user protection.

In the same year, Google said it will shut down the social network in August 2019 but now that date has moved to April. One more statement is released by Google that it would cut off API access to the product within the next 90 days.

In a blog post, Google has stated “We better understand that our ability to build reliable products that protect data drives user trust. Despite of that, we will never stop to build privacy protections that work for everyone.”

Although Google + will continue as a part of G suite and will continuously offer closed user groups for organizations, either it is a mobile app development company. There are various organizations who have adopted the Google+ on-demand platform as an intranet/Slack alternative. The most surprising thing is that various loyal users have expressed their unhappiness at the closure already. Do you need Android security app?

Hire Fluper i.e., a trusted mobile app development firm where powerful applications are created according to users requirements.
